90-Day Plan & Attendance

What is a 90-Day Plan?

As defined by NMPED, a school's 90-Day Plan serves as "a roadmap that assists schools in concentrating on actions aimed at enhancing student outcomes." At Jackson, we have identified four key layers or areas where we are directing our efforts to promote accelerated learning:

The 90-Day Plan was developed by a team of teachers, stakeholders, and district personnel.

How can YOU help support our 90-Day Plan?

  1. Encourage Critical Thinking at Home:  Foster an environment where critical thinking is valued. Ask your child open-ended questions about their day, homework, or interests. This practice helps them become comfortable with complex thinking, which can translate to classroom discussions.

  2. Engage with Classroom ContentStay informed about what your child is learning in school. Discuss specific subjects and topics, and encourage them to explain concepts back to you.

  3. Promote a "Growth Mindset": Encourage your child to embrace challenges and view mistakes as learning opportunities. A growth mindset helps them approach DOK level 3 questions with confidence, seeing them as a chance to explore and understand rather than just a test of knowledge.

  4. Communicate with teachers (frequently): Stay in touch with your child’s teachers about their progress and the types of questions being used in class. Share your support for high-level questioning and ask how you can reinforce these concepts at home, ensuring a consistent approach to learning.  Make sure your child checks his/her APS-created Gmail regularly.

By engaging in these practices, YOU play a crucial role in supporting the educational goals related to critical thinking and deeper learning.
