Parents/Guardians Make Sure To Update Your Contact Information

Please make sure to update ParentVue when your address and/or phone number changes.  This is very important in case there is an emergency with your student.  It is also the information we use in mailings and for pre-registration information each year

 Counseling Services

The Jackson Middle School Counselor, a licensed mental health professional, delivers an ASCA-aligned comprehensive school program to all students. These services include individual and group counseling, classroom presentations, crisis intervention and referrals to outside agencies. Students, parents/guardians and staff may consult with the counselor on a confidential basis to promote student success

*Please note that School Counselors do not provide therapy. Rather, the focus is on short-term, solution-focused counseling (approximately 20 minute appointments) and providing counseling resources as needed.

Students can meet with the counselor to discuss any of the following:

 Social-Emotional Issues:

  • Friendships & Relationships

  • Family changes

  • Grief/loss issues

  • Mistreatment

  • Mediation

  • Safety concerns (for yourself or others)

Academic Issues:

  • Academic Advisement

  • Study Skill Strategies

College and Career Readiness

  • High School Readiness

  • Career Exploration and awareness

  • Post-Secondary Selection

Confidentiality & Informed Consent

Often, information disclosed to the  school counselor is private and confidential.  Confidentiality ensures that school counselors will not make non-safety related disclosures of students without their permission.  However, when safety concerns are reported by students, school counselors must involve others to keep students safe.  This includes instances when:

  • The student is in danger of harming themselves or others

  • Someone is hurting the student

  • Court ordered subpoenas
